Cost of Living Solutions

Students at Dormers Wells organised an event to support families through the cost of living crisis.

Students at Dormers Wells organised an event to support families through the cost of living crisis. They brought together local organisations, including Ealing Council and Mind Charity to share advice and resources with the Southall community.

“Seeing the community come together reminded me that when resources are limited, unity becomes our greatest asset.” — Mannat

“Being part of this event taught me so much about planning and leadership. I'm proud of what we achieved.” — Navpreet

Headteacher Roisin Walsh called it “a true testament to the leadership, planning, and communication skills our students have developed working with KICK.”

This project was supported by The Charity Den, KICK’s flagship programme.

Young Champions Haven

Sukhmani and Mehreen created Young Champions Haven — a club that offers fun, friendship, and a safe space for young carers.

After struggling to find local support for young carers in Southall, Sukhmani and Mehreen created Young Champions Haven — a club that offers fun, friendship, and a safe space for young carers to share experiences.

Their project has already sparked change: students who didn’t realise they were carers have found recognition and support, and the school’s safeguarding team is strengthening its provision as a result.

In June, their work was honoured during Young Carers Week with events that raised awareness, encouraged dialogue, and celebrated resilience.

This project was supported by The Charity Den, KICK’s flagship programme.

Charity Den Workshop: LAET

At LAET, the Charity Den became a whole-school experience.

At LAET, the Charity Den became a whole-school experience. Over the day, they explored their communities, identified causes they cared about, developed actionable ideas, and pitched them to one another.

“Our students are passionate about helping others, but in the past their ideas were often limited to fundraising. This workshop encouraged them to think outside the box and create real projects with the potential to impact lives in their local community.” — Maayane Ben Ari, Enrichment Coordinator

“Observing the buzz of the sessions and hearing conversations continue outside the classroom was heartwarming. It showed the diversity of causes our students feel passionately about.” — Sarah Lloyd, Deputy Head

This workshop was delivered through The Charity Den, KICK’s flagship programme.

Charity Den Workshop: Brook Academy

Over 100 students at Brook Academy took part in a two-week Charity Den journey.

Over 100 students at Brook Academy took part in a two-week Charity Den journey, beginning with a full-day workshop to explore causes and develop project plans. The process ended with eight teams pitching their ideas to a live panel of KICK representatives. This gave students a taste of a professional boardroom setting and helped them see their ideas taken seriously by others.

“It was amazing to see the scope and professionalism of the projects pitched to us, especially considering the students had only been planning them for two weeks!” — Kanwardeep Ahluwalia, KICK founder

This workshop was delivered through The Charity Den, KICK’s flagship programme.
